Expression of interest (EOI) for the Care Plan Review Panel (Panel)

Nominations are being sought for membership to the Care Plan Review Panel (Panel), including a Panel Chair, a Panel Deputy Chair, legally qualified members and Aboriginal representatives.

What does the Panel do?

The Panel reviews care planning decisions for children in the care of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and reports to the Communities CEO on its recommendations.

Every child in the care of the CEO must have a Care Plan, which identifies the needs of the child, how those needs will be met and sets out decisions about the care of a child. This includes decisions such as care arrangements, contact with family, cultural needs, education and health. Everyone involved in the care planning process receives a copy of the Care Plan. If the young person in care, parents, carers or other significant individuals to the child disagree with the care planning decision, they can apply to the CEO to seek a review of the Panel’s decision.

Please note, a current officer of Department of Communities (Communities) is not eligible for Panel membership. To ensure sufficient independence a person will not be appointed as a Panel member if they have worked for Communities within the past 12 months, unless engaged under a short-term contact or as a student on placement for no more than three months within the 12-month period.

The EOI is now open, with applications closing on Friday 20 June at 4:00pm.
