Aboriginal Liaison Officers

About the Job

Our Aboriginal Liaison Officers are an integral part of our service to the PTA Transit Security Division. With a strong focus on customer service and supporting and assisting both indigenous and non-indigenous members of public using the PTA rail network, they are a valuable point of contact for vulnerable and at-risk patrons who may need assistance but are unsure of where to go or who to approach for help.

Reporting directly to the Revenue Protection Supervisor, our ALO officers duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing customer service to passengers and visitors around the rail network.

  • Patrolling train stations and also riding on train services.

  • Assisting Transit Officers with persons in custody if requested.

  • Responding to calls for assistance from staff.

  • Engaging with the indigenous community and passengers.

  • Liaising with various stakeholders including local support programs, not for profit organisations and other agencies.

  • Providing assistance where required to people who are vulnerable and at risk.

  • Reporting any suspicious or anti-social behaviour to Transit Officers.
